RF Microneedling - Eyes: First Week Aftercare & What to Avoid (plus permanent brow makeup timing)
By Body Sculpting Spa LLC | Skin tightening | August 22, 2026
I hear it all the time after an appointment: people love the results and they want to protect them. One recent visitor told me it was an âAmazing experienceâ and that I âcare about your experience and results, â and that mindset is exactly why Iâm strict about the first week.
The single most important rule after RF Microneedling for the eye area is simple: keep the skin clean, cool, and untouched. That means gentle cleansing, sterile cool compresses, only the soothing products I recommend, and no rubbing or picking. For at least 48 to 72 hours, skip eye makeup and contact lenses, and keep heat, sweat, sun, and water off the area so you donât trade a great result for prolonged redness.
Iâm located in Saint Clair Shores near the Greater Mack Avenue corridor by Little Mack and 9 Mile, so if you need a quick check-in before weekend plans near the Lake St. Clair waterfront, youâre close.
First 24 to 48 hours: cool, clean, and hands off
Right after RF Microneedling around the eyes, itâs normal to look a bit pink, feel warm, and have mild puffiness. Your job is to help the skin settle so collagen remodeling can do its thing.
Quick checklist (day 0 to day 2): cool compresses, gentle cleanse, apply only the serum or calming products I recommended, and keep your hands away from the treated skin.
- Cooling: Use a sterile cool compress in short sessions when you feel warm or puffy. Donât use ice directly on skin.
- Cleansing: I generally recommend a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry. No scrubbing.
- No makeup and no contacts: Plan on at least 48 to 72 hours without mascara, eyeliner, lash glue, or contact lenses. Wear glasses until swelling and irritation are gone.
- Skip sweat and heat: Avoid heavy exercise for about 48 hours. Also skip saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga.
- Keep water off: No swimming or hot tubs for 48 to 72 hours. Water plus bacteria plus freshly treated skin is not the combo you want.
This is also when I see the biggest difference between âhealed fastâ and âwhy am I still irritated?â People who rub their eyes out of habit usually regret it. If you have seasonal allergies, keep tissues nearby and dab gently instead.
Days 3 to 7: what I have you avoid so you donât âundoâ the work
By day three, most people look calmer, but the skin is still in repair mode. This is where smart choices protect your texture changes and that refreshed look many people come in for. Iâm big on details because, as one client put it, Iâm âhighly knowledgeableâ and I care about your results.
Heat, sun, and âLake St. Clair daysâ
Saint Clair Shores summers are no joke. Between the high sun and humidity near the lake, itâs easy to get extra flushed without realizing it. I generally recommend avoiding direct sun for at least 1 to 2 weeks. Once your skin has closed, protect the area with sunglasses and a physical sunscreen (think zinc oxide) around, not into, the eye area.
Products to pause for 7 to 14 days
Hold off on retinoids, strong vitamin C, exfoliating acids, scrubs, and anything that stings. If youâre used to âactiveâ eye creams, this is the week to keep it boring on purpose. Your under-eye skin is thin, and pushing it too soon is a common reason people get lingering dryness or redness.
The simple routine I like for RF Microneedling - Eyes (no fancy guessing)
I keep aftercare product guidance straightforward because the eye area doesnât need a 10-step routine right after Microneedling. It needs calm and consistency. If you already buy skincare through me, you know Iâm picky about what actually behaves well on your skin.
My go-to âtypesâ of products for this week
- Gentle cleanser: fragrance-free, no exfoliating beads, no acids.
- Repair serum: the one I recommend post-service, applied with clean hands.
- Fragrance-free moisturizer: thin layers, more often beats thick layers once a day.
- Mineral SPF after the skin has closed: zinc oxide plus sunglasses is a strong combo.
And a big one: keep your pillowcase clean for the first week. Itâs an easy, practical way to reduce irritation around the eyes.
If you want a deeper explanation of why this works for crepey texture, take a look at crepey under-eye skin and RF Microneedling for eyes.
When to text me, and when itâs probably normal
A little redness, warmth, and mild swelling are common early on. The eye area is reactive, and youâre close to lymph drainage pathways, so puffiness can happen. Iâd rather you reach out than sit at home wondering.
Message me if you notice worsening swelling after the first day, increasing tenderness, drainage that looks suspicious, or anything that feels off. If you live nearby in Eastpointe, Roseville, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores, Harper Woods, or Clinton Township, I can usually get you in quickly for a post-treatment check along the Greater Mack Avenue corridor.
âA big "thank you" to Shanel, who took excellent care of me. She carefully explained everything and made certain I was comfortable during each of my visits. I definitely recommend Body Sculpting Spa.â

FAQs I get every week in Saint Clair Shores
How long does redness or swelling last after RF Microneedling - Eyes?
Most people see the strongest redness and puffiness in the first 24 to 48 hours, then it gradually settles over the next few days. The eye area can stay a little dry or lightly pink as it heals. If redness or swelling is getting worse instead of better, text me so I can take a look.
Can I wear mascara or lash extensions after RF Microneedling - Eyes?
I recommend waiting a minimum of 48 to 72 hours before mascara or any eye makeup. For lash extensions and lash glue, give it a little more time if you still feel tender or dry, since removal and cleansing can involve rubbing. When in doubt, ask me first and Iâll guide you based on how your skin looks.
When can I put my contact lenses back in after RF Microneedling - Eyes?
Plan on wearing glasses for at least 48 to 72 hours. Contacts can irritate dry eyes, and putting them in can accidentally tug on the treated skin. If youâre still puffy or tender, wait until that calms down.
Is it safe to go boating or swim in Lake St. Clair after RF Microneedling - Eyes?
Boating is usually fine as long as youâre protecting your eyes from glare and UV. Think sunglasses and shade, especially with Lake St. Clair sun reflecting off the water. For swimming, I recommend waiting 48 to 72 hours at minimum. If your skin feels open or irritated, wait longer and ask me first.
When can I restart my eye creams with retinol or vitamin C after RF Microneedling - Eyes?
I generally recommend pausing retinoids and strong vitamin C for about 7 to 14 days. Start back slowly, and stop again if you feel stinging or see extra dryness. The goal is calm healing first, then actives later.
How does permanent brow makeup fit in if Iâm doing RF Microneedling?
If youâre planning permanent brow makeup, I like to look at your timing so weâre not stacking healing on top of healing around the eye area. Send me a message with what youâre booked for and your date. Iâll help you space it out in a way that protects your skin and keeps your results clean.
Is permanent eyebrow makeup the same as semi permanent eyebrow makeup?
People use terms like permanent eyebrow makeup, semi permanent eyebrow makeup, and even permanent tattoo eyebrows to describe similar brow services. The important part is that itâs a form of pigment in the skin, and your skinâs condition matters. Iâll talk you through the right timing and what your brows need so you heal well.
I searched âpermanent eyebrow make upâ and got overwhelmed. What should I do next?
Keep it simple. Send me a photo of your current brows and tell me what you want to change. If youâre also doing Microneedling or other Skin tightening services, Iâll map out an order that makes sense so youâre not inflamed in the same area twice.
One last note: I do a lot more than Microneedling here. If youâre pairing treatments like Body contouring, Fat reduction, Coolsculpting, or Skin tightening with facial services, Iâll help you plan the calendar so your recovery stays easy and predictable.
